Privacy, kept simple.

Signal is built to respect your attention and your data. No accounts, no database we operate, no tracking you around the web. The one thing we ever collect is your email, and only if you ask for the digest. Here's exactly what that means.

What we collect

Read anything on Signal without signing in. There are no user accounts, and the site itself keeps no database. The only personal information we ever collect is an email address, and only when you choose to subscribe to the digest. If you never subscribe, we hold nothing about you.

The email digest

The digest is strictly opt-in. We never add you to it. You enter your own email, and you only join once you confirm.

Express, confirmed consent. After you enter your email we send one confirmation message. You join only when you click the link inside. That double opt-in is express consent under Canada's anti-spam law (CASL), and it is how we evidence it.
Where the list lives. Your email and subscription are held by Buttondown, the email service that sends the digest on our behalf. Signal runs no subscriber database of its own. Their handling of your data is covered by Buttondown's privacy policy.
What is stored. Your email address, plus the basics that prove lawful consent: when you subscribed, the page you subscribed from, and the network address of that request. The source is tagged as the website signup. Nothing more, and no profile of your reading.
Who it is from. Every edition is sent by Nest Digital Canada Inc., the publisher of Signal, and carries a reply path and our mailing address.
Leaving is one click. Every edition carries a one-click unsubscribe, honoured right away. You can also write to us. We never sell or share the list, and we run no third-party advertising or ad tracking in the digest.

Analytics

Signal uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to see which pages are read and to keep the site fast. Both are privacy-respecting by design: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and no personal data. They count page views and measure load performance in aggregate. They don't build a profile of you, follow you around the web, or sell anything. We run no third-party advertising.

Your choices

Reading takes no account and leaves nothing to manage. For the digest, you stay in control: unsubscribe in one click from any edition to stop the mail. To see what we hold, or to have the stored record itself deleted (not just paused), contact Nest Digital and we will take care of it.
